Kate Maguire is a performing songwriter, guitarist, and producer living near Baltimore, MD. She currently performs as part of the duo Beggar’s Ride along with fellow performing songwriter Claudia SanSoucie. Together they just completed their self-titled debut release, available on June 7, 2011. You can pre-order and download the album here.
The album was recorded at Signature Sounds studio in Pomfret, CT and produced by David Goodrich (Chris Smither, Peter Mulvey, Jeffery Foucault). All ten tracks were written and performed by SanSoucie and Maguire with the exception of the David Olney tune “Women Across the River.”
Kate also produced and released a solo EP in 2008 called “Leaving.” Her song “Softer Shade of Blue” from this released won a silver prize in the Mid Atlantic Song Competition and was included on the GoGirl’s Sampler that same year. The album finds Kate in a full band setting. The basic tracks were recorded in Indianapolis, IN, with good friends and borrowed gear, and finished in her home studio outside of Baltimore, MD.
She sometimes gives guitar lessons, and sometimes produces music for other people, and likes to play on other artist’s music as well. A few artists have sent Kate their tracks, and she happily added guitar tracks in her home studio. Let’s do it!
